The article referenced below details why getting a pulse oximeter is a great idea. It costs around 20-50 dollars on Amazon and it allows you to measure the oxygen levels in your blood. If you are like me and my husband, every time you feel a tickle in the back of your throat or a slight headache coming on you practically convince yourself you have Covid19. The Pulse oximeter is an incredible tool to have at your fingertips (literally) as it will immediately let you know if you are in danger. You simply put it on your finger or your child's, and wait for the digital readout. You want to see the blood oxygen level above 95 - but my kids always aim for 100. The boys make it into a bit of a game and see who can breathe the most deeply and therefore raise their numbers and get the most oxygen in their blood.

------In the article the doctor writes:

We are just beginning to recognize that Covid pneumonia initially causes a form of oxygen deprivation we call “silent hypoxia” — “silent” because of its insidious, hard-to-detect nature.

So, as I am sure you have begun to hear, this is not a straightforward pneumonia and we are still learning more and more about it every day. But this simple and inexpensive device can keep you safe and sane.
